THE FASTING STEPS

Fasting is not trivial and requires a specific preparation before your arrival at the Centre.

01

FOOD DESCENT

The first phase of fasting consists in lowering the quantity of food intake and removing each of the food families (proteins, carbohydrates, fats) in a degressive way over a week or so before your stay. This process allows the digestive system to go through withdrawal when needed and to slow down.

How exactly will be customized and established together after your enquiry.

The FASTING

Now that your body is ready, your fast can actually start. When you arrive at the center, you can opt for a mild purge to completely empty the intestines before they come to a stop and really kick off fasting.

Your body can now enter the 3 phases of fasting. The timing of each step may vary a little bit between people, but the phases will always follow in the same order.

PHASE 1:

Day 1 to 3: the protein phase.

Glucose is synthesized from the amino acids of proteins, resulting from the recycling of too old, degenerate, or useless proteins that clutter the tissues: liver, adipose tissue, muscles, digestive tract, connective tissue, cells, etc.

PHASE 2:

Around day 3 to day 5: the acidosis crisis.

The body goes into self-restoration. Any remaining sensation of hunger will totally disappear. Fatty acids are used directly or transformed into ketone bodies.

PHASE 3:

From day 4 to day 7: the equilibrium phase.

A radical change comes after the acidosis crisis. The metabolism calms down. It is common to experience a state of fullness with a feeling of physical and spiritual strength.

You are now ready to start eating again. The food recovery starts at the center before your departure, in a light meal shared together.

03

FOOD RECOVERY

After this period of rest and reset, it is time now to restart the digestive system on a sound basis. It is a perfect opportunity to reconstruct the intestinal flora, with lacto-ferments for the small intestine and psyllium for the large.

The food recovery after the retreat is the opposite of the food descent before the retreat. It will be done following our instructions at home. This is a good time to reconsider -if needed- your eating habits going forward.
